My Thoughts On Valentines Day (because no one asked for them)

It’s normal, these days, for an individual who is single, such as myself, to lash out at this holiday. However, I am going to do no such thing.

When two people find each other and fall in love, it is one of the most amazing things to me. You can see it in the way they look at each other, you can see it when they talk about the person when they are not around, you can hear it in their voices when talk with each other. While I can never say I have been in love, I have cared deeply for people before, so I can only imagine what it is like to love someone.

I believe people can begin to lose that love as well, but only if you both decide to not try and work at it and rediscover that person all over again. Not that it always works, but it’s worth a shot most of the time.

I hate single people the most on this holiday, including myself, because I could easily rain on someone else’s parade because I’m not in a relationship. Some couples want to do something special today, cool, do it. Some couples don’t want to much if anything, cool, then don’t. But just because we single people can’t make that decision with a significant other today, we get all pissy and say “What a stupid day!”

Don’t get me wrong, it sucks to be single sometimes. I’ll see a couple a few feet away from me, his arm over her shoulder, her arms wrapped around his waist, just standing in line for coffee, and I’ll think “Man, I wish I could throw them off a bridge like that.” But that’s only stupid jealous rage and if I was really honest with myself, I wish that was me she was holding. (well maybe not her, she wasn’t my type, but you get the idea)

To conclude, couples enjoy yourselves today. Spoil yourselves, or stay in and do what you normally do. Buy a gift or just surprise the person with an outing that costs nothing for either of you. Do what you want on this holiday, because it’s a holiday and you can. And to all us single people, shutthefuckup.
